EAST VS WEST!

Silent Drop!

The Second Installment of the
East Vs West Pack.

Vans wanted to create a capsule collection consisting of shoes based on their influences and colors and also takes inspiration from the "East Vs West" culture so, for the final chapter, they hooked up with 2 influential brands in the clothing industry from their respective coasts to come up with their design efforts onto a shoe.

Acapulco Gold Representing the East Coast.
Crooks & Castles Representing the West Coast.
Previously utilizing the Forty-Four Hi Shoe,
this time, they use the Moda Hi.
It's a hybrid between the evergreen Sk8 Hi & the Mountain Edition Hi.

Details are plenty in these two shoes.
But what's my pick you say?

Read on.

But before we go on to the East Vs. West pack.
We also got some new shoes in stores.

For Spring 2010,
We got the Chambray Pack
in 2 models,
The Era
&
The Old Skool.
Featuring Chambray on the uppers, the heel tab and the toe box is covered in corduroy.
Both shoes utilizes metal eyelets for easy & quick lacing.
Comes in two colors as you can see below,
Blue & Black.

Upclosee.
Heel. The Vans tab is orange as similar to those found in denim where the detailing is usually orange.

Anyway,
Now on to the East.
Previously,
5Boro NYC was repping the East Coast.
Now, Acapulco Gold steps up to the plate and gets ready to swing with it's take on the Moda Hi.
The execution is not too bad, but not exactly rad either.
Detailing is everywhere as usual. But the colors are just not my thing.
They are using a mixture of suede and leather uppers on a clean white / green colorway.

But before I move on,
the shoes are sadly using pig leather as the lining.
So it's not exactly friendly to our Muslim friends.

It comes with two laces so if you don't really dig the white one, there's the green one to switch it up.
AG.
Designed exclusively for Vans.
Heel tab. Clean.

The tongue.
The underside.
Reppin the East, son.
The insole is dope. if you ask me.
the heel part is suede so it's smooth on the feet if you are not a fan of wearing socks.
But be hygienic people.
HAHA.
This outsole is similar to those found in Zapato Del Barco.
The non-slip marking outsole. Very boat shoe style.
But this sole is only exclusive to the West Coast effort done by Crooks & Castles.
Next Up.
Repping the West Coast.
Crooks & Castles.
Now this is a keeper.
Sporting all kinds of luxurious leathers.
Quilted leather on the back part.
Epi Leather everywhere
&
Premium leather too.
A minor introduction to Epi Leather.
It's made famous by Louis Vuitton.
Very elegant looking.
Details, cuzz.
They initially failed with their first effort.
But this. They hit the jackpot, cuzz.
The laces is not spared from the details.
They are using the waxed laces.
The toe box so reminds you of the Sk8 Hi.
The Back View.
The Heel tab is all Epi Leather.
Real luxurious.
It also comes with normal black laces if you don't like it.
The tongue.
The chain and the castle.
This is where Vans should be designed in.
The insole.

So my pick of the pack would be the West Coast.
They did a great job with the details and such.
Epi leather on a Vans shoe?!
That's bloody RAD cuzz!

Anyway, the shoe boxes on each of the pack is really nice.
Packaging plays an important factor to me.
It makes it look like,
"Whoa. This shoe is really nice.I'll be sure to wear it everyday!"

Anyway, have a good weekend yall!
TGIF!
